The inaugural Family of Woman Film Festival and Lecture Series takes place this weekend in Seattle Art Museum and includes displays of Egyptian drama "Cairo 6.7.8" a documentary about basketball and women in Iraq, "Salaam Dunk." The weekend includes a Friday evening reception with the Seattle Storm and "Salaam Dunk" filmmakers, and a panel discussion Monday at the Arab spring. It's a busy week at Northwest Film Forum, with the UCLA Festival of Preservation proceed with three short films from the Outfest Legacy Project on Friday ("Queens at Heart", "Mona's Candle Light" and "Choosing Children"), the 1942 film "Native Land" screening Saturday, 1941documentary "The Forgotten Village" on Sunday, and the 1948 Douglas Sirk drama "Sleep, My Love," starring Claudette Colbert, on Monday.
